Kintsugi Tea Ceremony
: Your Restored Bowl
Savor the Seasons in a Bowl You Restored
In a secluded Kyoto heritage townhouse, guests are welcomed into a serene world where brokenness becomes beauty.
This refined experience centers on a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, held with a handcrafted Kiyomizu-yaki tea bowl that has been lovingly restored by yourself using modern Kintsugi techniques.
Under the guidance of a experienced tea master, you will learn the elegant world of chanoyu—from the respectful handling of tools to the silent appreciation of seasonal wagashi and matcha.
What makes this experience truly exceptional is the tea bowl itself: a once-damaged tea bowl, repaired with gold by your hand to honor its history, imperfection, and rebirth.
After the master’s demonstration, participants whisk matcha in their own restored bowls and serve it to one another, sharing the spirit of restoration.
By drinking from this special bowl, you participate in a ritual of continuity, mindfulness, and aesthetic resilience. Each step echoes the Zen principle of wabi-sabi, celebrating transience and the beauty of repair.
This is not only a tea ceremony, but a philosophical encounter with the Japanese spirit of renewal—experienced through taste, tactility, and time.
